FORT MCCOY, Fla. – A family and their pets are safe after a mobile home fire in Marion County.
At approximately 5 a.m. on Wednesday, Marion County Fire Rescue teams were dispatched to the 14000 block of NE 188th Place in Fort McCoy following a report from a 911 caller regarding a fire in their attached garage with animals trapped inside, as stated in a social media update.
Upon arrival, the responders discovered that the flames had spread to the outer portion of the mobile home. Prompt action by the firefighters led to the rapid containment of the garage fire, thus averting any additional harm to the mobile home.
The teams proceeded to carry out thorough searches of the premises, both primary and secondary, confirming that the inhabitants had evacuated the premises safely, rescuing their cats from the residence. Additionally, the firefighters located their pigs unharmed in their designated enclosure.
No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
