Arkansas authorities share a recent picture of the escaped fugitive known as the ‘Devil in the Ozarks’ who has been on the run for several weeks

The Arkansas Department of Corrections (ADC) recently shared a new photo of Grant Hardin, a former police chief who became a prisoner and escaped from detention on May 25. Currently, a large-scale manhunt is underway in the Ozarks region to locate him.

Grant Hardin, aged 56, who used to be the Chief of the Gateway Police Department, ran away from the North Central Unit, a medium-security prison located in Calico Rock, on a Sunday afternoon in May. Hardin, also known as the “Devil in the Ozarks,” was serving a lengthy sentence for charges of murder and rape.

According to the ADC, the search for Grant Hardin is still ongoing, with a primary focus on the north central Arkansas area. Teams are diligently following leads and tips provided by the public to track down Hardin, who has now been on the run for over a week since escaping from the North Central Unit. ADC released an updated photo of Hardin, showing him with facial hair, to depict his current possible appearance.

The FBI and U.S. Marshals are offering a combined $25,000 for any information leading to Hardin’s capture. They are asking anyone with information to call 1-800-CALL-FBI or submit a tip online at tips.fbi.gov.

Hardin ended up pleading guilty in that case in 2019, according to KNWA.

The former police chief’s escape came two days after 10 prisoners escaped a correctional facility in New Orleans, eight of whom have since been recaptured while two remain at large.

Hardin is described as a 6-foot White male, weighing approximately 259 pounds.
