Joe Biden, no longer in the White House, is still on the minds of many people, especially Catholics. They recall when his FBI attempted to label them as Racially or Ethnically Motivated Violent Extremists (RMVEs) for upholding traditional practices like the Latin Mass and the sanctity of life. This happened during his time in office, where there was an attempt to link traditional Catholics with political extremism.
During February of 2023, when Joe Biden was still President, reports emerged that the FBI’s Richmond office had created a document known as the “Richmond Memo.” This memo aimed to connect traditional Catholics with extremism, particularly warning about Radical-Traditionalist Catholics (RTCs) possibly turning to violence leading up to the 2024 presidential election. As a result, they were recommended for close monitoring and infiltration.
What raised concerns was the FBI’s reliance on information from the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC), a group known for its extreme left-wing views. The SPLC, which previously labeled Turning Point USA as a “hate group,” provided much of the basis for the FBI’s report. The fact that the FBI would trust the conclusions of such a biased organization is troubling, leading one to wonder if they were also using data from controversial groups like Black Lives Matter.
