Cleveland firefighter indicted for assault, faces arraignment in June

An indictment from a Cuyahoga County grand jury reveals that Carlos Jordan, aged 32, has been charged with assault and felonious assault. He was placed on unpaid leave by the Cleveland fire department in May.

Following an arrest on assault charges last month, a Cleveland firefighter, Carlos L. Jordan, has been indicted by a Cuyahoga County grand jury, according to court records.

Carlos Jordan, 32 years old, is facing one charge of assault and one charge of felonious assault. On May 14, U.S. Marshals apprehended Jordan at Fire Station 40 on St. Clair Avenue. Jail records indicate that he was taken into custody at the Cuyahoga County Jail concerning an alleged assault that occurred on May 1 in Cleveland.

According to 3News media partner Cleveland.com, Jordan is accused of violently attacking his girlfriend, leaving her with a collapsed lung, fractured ribs, and broken bones in her face. The publication cited court documents saying that Jordan left the victim at the door of University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center before driving away, at which time the woman tried to enter the hospital before passing out. She now faces a long recovery.

Per Cleveland.com, Jordan has been with the Cleveland Division of Fire since 2021. The Cleveland Department of Public Safety acknowledged Jordan’s arrest and said he will be on unpaid leave while the investigation progresses.

Jordan is set to be arraigned in Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas on June 20. He previously posted a $150,000 bond and is currently free from custody, though he is required to wear a GPS monitoring device.
