California 'Shoplift With a Cop' blitz operation leads to dozens of arrests

Even as the world gets into the festive holiday mood, the Ventura County Organized Retail Theft Task Force has been busy ensuring that the holiday cheer remains safe. Their operation called “Shoplift With a Cop” has been a success in this regard.

In Ventura County, California, authorities recently revealed the outcomes of their weekend initiative “Shoplift With a Cop.” The operation resulted in the apprehension of 37 individuals, including multiple minors, and the confiscation of illegal substances.

“During the operation, 21 adults and 16 juveniles were arrested. Additionally, stolen goods worth close to $2,000 were recovered, along with burglary tools and a variety of drugs such as fentanyl, methamphetamine, and cocaine,” as stated in an official announcement.

The sheriff’s office expressed the desire for retailers in the county who experience retail theft to reach out and participate in similar blitz operations in the future.

Call their main line at (805) 383-8703 to participate, the statement said.

The Ventura County Organized Retail Theft Task Force was formed after the Sheriff’s Office was awarded grant funding under the California Retail Theft Prevention Grant Program.
