Dakota Johnson isn’t shying away from daring attire in the wake of reports of her relationship with Chris Martin breaking down.
The 35-year-old actress appeared cheerful as she was seen wearing a transparent ensemble in Tribeca, New York City on Thursday, June 5, following reports of her split with her partner.
She wore a sheer black midi-dress, paired with black pumps, a brown Gucci Jackie handbag, black sunglasses, and had her hair down. The star of Madame Web seemed unfazed by the recent news as she stepped out in style.
According to a report by People on Wednesday, June 4, Johnson and Martin have decided to go their separate ways and end their engagement after being together for eight years.
Us Weekly has reached out to reps for Martin, 48, and Johnson for comment on Wednesday.
Prior to the reports on Wednesday, Johnson was photographed out and about in Tribeca sans her engagement ring – jewelry she has often been spotted wearing during past public outings.
In recent months, the pair have faced speculation about the status of their relationship. Despite supporting Martin during his summer 2024 tour with Coldplay, Johnson raised eyebrows when she was spotted without her engagement ring in Los Angeles.
Johnson’s rep, however, denied there were any issues, telling Us in August 2024, “The reports are not true. They are happily together.”
Us Weekly exclusively confirmed in December 2017 that the Coldplay singer and Johnson were dating. (Martin’s divorce from Gwyneth Paltrow was finalized in July 2016. They share two children, Apple, 21, and Moses, 19.)
The notoriously private couple — who were rarely photographed together — briefly broke up in the summer of 2019.
Martin and Johnson, however, got back together one month later with a little help from Paltrow, 52.
“Gwyneth is the one who pushed them to do it,” a source told Us in August 2019.
In January 2020, Paltrow confirmed her love and respect for Martin’s new flame during a candid interview with Harper’s Bazaar.
“I love her,” Paltrow shared with the publication. “I can see how it would seem weird because it’s sort of unconventional. But I think, in this case, just having passed through it iteratively, I just adore her.”
Martin, Johnson and Paltrow were so amicable that a source told Us in March 2024 that the duo had even planned to invite the Goop founder to their wedding.
“They absolutely plan on having Apple and Moses there, and they wouldn’t feel complete without inviting Gwyneth too,” the insider shared. “Dakota and Gwyneth have grown very close over the years and they consider themselves family at this point.”
