Ryan Coogler did not shy away from sex in Sinners, and we’re grateful. There’s no doubt that Hailee Steinfeld is very beautiful, but the hottest sex scene in Sinners—and, indeed, perhaps the hottest sex scene of the year so far—is the raw, tender moment of passion between Smoke (Michael B. Jordan) and his estranged wife Annie (Wunmi Mosaku). First, Annie hits Smoke with some very sensual ear nibbles. The face that Jordan makes when she does is, well, let’s just call it memorable. Then he flips her around and takes her from behind. Despite the lack of nudity, it’s incredibly hot.

Say what you will about Mickey 17, aka Bong Joon-ho’s bizarre follow-up to his Best Picture winner, Parasite. But no one can deny that Mickey 17 was brave enough to do what few clone movies have had the guts for: Clone threesome sex! Robert Pattinson as an “expendable” clone named Mickey, who accidentally doesn’t die when he’s supposed to, resulting—spoiler alert—two Robert Pattinsons. Mickey’s girlfriend, played by the hilarious Naomi Ackie, doesn’t see this as a problem. The three of them don’t quite go all the way, but some fun, sexy times are had by all.

Spoiler alert: Blake Lively has sex with herself in Another Simple Favor, and yes, it’s wild. Without getting too much into spoilers, basically, Lively plays triplets in this sequel to the popular 2018 comedy thriller, A Simple Favor. The first movie relied on incest, so the sequel upped the stakes with twincest. Lively shares a kiss with herself, and, though you don’t see much, it’s heavily implied she gives herself a hand job. After the fact, Anna Kendrick’s character couldn’t resist hitting Lively with a line of dialogue that makes this whole thing feel inevitable and scandalous in the best way: “Sisterf–ker!”

I never thought I’d include a documentary in one of these “best sex scenes of the year” lists, but clearly, I underestimated Brazilian pop star Anitta’s exhibition kink. In her recent 2025 Netflix documentary, the singer takes a naked shower with her film’s director and childhood friend, Pedro Cantelmo. It’s not quite sex, but it’s most certainly some very heavy foreplay. Anitta, who seems to enjoy flirting with Pedro (clearly in love with her), playfully informs her director that he is dirty. She offers to wash him. So, Cantelmo carefully sets up a camera in the bathroom, aimed at the hotel bathroom’s glass shower door. He and Anitta, both completely naked, step into the shower together, where Anitta begins to run her hands all over his body to “wash” him. The glass door is pretty foggy, and at one point Anitta wipes away the fog with her arm to reveal that, yes, her breasts are fully out. Call me an American prude if you want, but I was shocked!

The award for funniest sex scene of 2025 (so far) has to go to Heart Eyes. This 2025 horror comedy—directed by Josh Ruben (known for his other horror comedy Werewolves Within)—is not quite the new Scream, but it certainly has some funny moments. Like, for example, the moment when protagonists Ally (Olivia Holt) and Jay (Mason Gooding) dive into the nearest van to hide from the notorious Valentine’s Day killer, Heart Eyes. Unfortunately, the van is already occupied by hippies having very loud, enthusiastic sex. It’s so loud, in fact, that the sex moans end up attracting the killer to their hiding spot. Oops!

Though not as explicit (nor as thought-provoking) as her sex scenes in last year’s Babygirl movie, Nicole Kidman is back with another sex scene in the 2025 Amazon thriller, Holland. Kidman stars as a school teacher whose quiet life in Holland—a Michigan town known for its Dutch heritage and annual Tulip Festival—is upended when she becomes convinced that her husband (Matthew Macfadyen) is having an affair with another woman. Ironically, this motivates her to begin an affair of her own with the dashing Gael García Bernal. Sadly, their passionate make-out session is interrupted, but Nicole finishing the job later, on her own… while lying in bed next to the husband who left her sexually unsatisfied. Nicole gagging herself to stay quiet while she rubs one out? That’s hot!

For a movie billed as a sex comedy, there is surprisingly little sex in Summer of 69, a Hulu original comedy that release last month. There is, however, a very impressive, very sexy striptease scene performed by Saturday Night Live star Chloe Fineman. Fineman stars as an exotic dancer hired by a high school nerd to help seduce her crush. Set to the iconic 2006 Peaches rock anthem “Boys Wanna Be Her,” Fineman’s strip routine features some classic pole-dancing moves. Fineman, in a skimpy metallic bikini and six-inch platform stilettos, commands the stage with complete self-assurance. Bathed in cherry red light—possibly in reference to the original Peaches music video—the SNL star works the pole like a pro, writhing her body up, down, and around it. She drops it down and back up again, lightning fast, like she’s never skipped a leg day in her life.

Usually, a drunken, out-of-town hook-up between two hot people after a night of drinking at the hotel bar would be hot AF. But in The Life List—the recent Netflix movie adaptation of the 2013 best-selling novel of the same name by Lori Nelson Spielman—the sex scene was totally ruined by the fact that Sofia Carson’s character, Alex, was knowingly helping her sexual partner, Brad (played by Kyle Allen) cheat on his long-term girlfriend. Not cool, Sofia!

The Gorge was a decently compelling romance of two elite assassins who fall in love, despite being isolated in towers miles apart, separated by a deep trench. It doesn’t hurt that those assassins are played by two very hot Hollywood stars, Milers Teller and Anya Taylor Joy. So color me disappointed that director Scott Derrickson opted to go the “fade-to-black” route when the characters finally meet up in person. Not only that, but he had the audacity to blur their fully-clothed make-out session. What are we even censoring here? Oh, well. At least Teller and Taylor-Joy are pretty.
