In Marion County, Florida, a tragic incident occurred where a 37-year-old man from Ocala riding a bicycle was hit and killed by a car. The driver of the car was subsequently arrested and accused of driving under the influence by the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred around 1:56 a.m. Saturday on State Road 25, just west of its intersection with SE 80th Court, troopers said.
The Florida Highway Patrol’s crash report stated that the car, operated by a 34-year-old woman from Fruitland Park, was moving westbound on S.R. 25 when it collided with the bicyclist, who was also traveling westbound on the north shoulder.
The bicyclist was pronounced dead at the scene by Marion County Fire Rescue, the report states.
The woman was arrested to face a charge of DUI manslaughter, troopers said.
