Akron police identify suspect wanted for fatal weekend stabbing

Akron police say Antoine Pixley, 21, assaulted his mother before the altercation escalated into a fatal stabbing

An Akron man has been taken into police custody for the fatal stabbing of his roommate and injuring his stepfather following an escalation of a “domestic fight” early Saturday morning, authorities have reported.

The suspect, Antoine Pixley, aged 21, was apprehended after an “extensive search,” as outlined in a press release from the Akron Police Department. Legal records from Akron Municipal Court indicate that Pixley faces charges of murder, two counts of felonious assault, and two counts of domestic violence.

Law enforcement officers were dispatched to the 1200 block of Bee Bee Circle just after 1 a.m. in response to reports from 911 dispatchers regarding an alleged assault by Pixley on his mother, which escalated into a violent altercation resulting in a stabbing.

Pixley’s 44-year-old stepfather and 22-year-old roommate were found with multiple stab wounds. Both men were taken to hospitals for treatment. The 22-year-old was later pronounced dead.

Investigators determined Pixley had driven away from the scene in a vehicle before police arrived. Akron police coordinated with surrounding law enforcement agencies to search for his vehicle.

Another agency found the suspect vehicle on Gilchrist Road. Police say a knife was recovered from the vehicle.

Pixley had abandoned the vehicle and ran away, police say. After a K-9 unit was deployed in the search, the suspect was arrested.

Pixley is set to be arraigned Monday morning, according to court documents.
