In Painesville, Ohio, police have confirmed the death of 20-year-old Wyllyam James Sheffey Jr. from Ashtabula as a result of a shooting that took place at the intersection of North State Street and Rockwood Drive on Saturday.
According to officials, police responded to gunshots fired at the intersection at around 7:59 p.m.Â
When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered the deceased victim, identified as Sheffey Jr., in the driver’s seat of a vehicle on the road. Two other individuals sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
Authorities clarified that the shooting incident was not connected to the Spring Block Party organized by the Painesville Community Improvement Corporation on Main Street that same Saturday evening.
The Lake County Sheriff’s Department, the Ohio State Highway Patrol and Painesville City Fire Department assisted at the scene.Â
In addition, the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification responded and processed evidence of the scene. Painesville police say detectives are processing “a large volume of information and evidence.”

Painesville Police Chief Dan Waterman released a video statement about the shooting on Monday afternoon.Â
