‘Too Much’ Trailer: Meg Stalter Sets Her Sights On A New Life In London In Lena Dunham’s Netflix Rom-Com Series

Girls fans have another project from Lena Dunham to look forward to this summer, that takes its lead out of New York City and over to the other side of the pond. Megan Stalter, fresh off her run on Hacks Season 4, leads Too Much, the new Netflix rom-com series alongside Will Sharpe.

Created by Dunham and her husband Luis Felber, the series loosely draws from Dunham’s life, though as she told The New Yorker in a July 2024 interview, she “knew from the very beginning [she] would not be the star of it.” While she praised Stalter’s “unbelievable” work and her “openness,” she added, “I also think that I was not willing to have another experience like what I’d experienced around Girls at this point in my life.”

“Physically, I was just not up for having my body dissected again,” she shared of starring in her hit HBO comedy. “It was a hard choice, not to cast Meg—because I knew I wanted Meg—but to admit that to myself.”

Wondering what Too Much is about? When does Too Much hit Netflix? Here is

The series is described as “an ex-pat rom-com for the disillusioned who wonder if true love is still possible, but sincerely hope that it is.”

Stalter stars in Too Much as Jessica, “a New York workaholic in her mid-thirties, reeling from a broken relationship that she thought would last forever and slowly isolating everyone she knows,” per Netflix’s synopsis.

“When every block in New York tells a story of her own bad behaviour, the only solution is to take a job in London, where she plans to live a life of solitude like a Bronte sister,” the synopsis continues. “But when she meets Felix (Sharpe) – a walking series of red flags – she finds that their unusual connection is impossible to ignore, even as it creates more problems than it solves. Now they have to ask themselves: do Americans and Brits actually speak the same language?”
