The View hosts pine after 'gorgeous' Gavin Newsom as they defend his LA riots response

During a conversation on The View about the riots in Los Angeles, the hosts took a moment to admire Governor Gavin Newsom’s good looks.

‘Gavin Newsom brings me back to really handsome presidents,’ 82-year-old Joy Behar said, also mentioning ‘JFK and Obama.’

Joy Behar commented, “Wouldn’t it be nice to have an articulate, gorgeous president like that again?” She also acknowledged, “I don’t want to be superficial.”

‘Just saying.’

Members of the audience couldn’t help but chuckle in response, with the off-color remark even catching Behar’s co-hosts off-guard.

Co-host Whoopi Goldberg appeared completely puzzled.

Former Trump aide and co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin used the moment of silence to transition back to a more serious topic – President Trump’s deployment of the National Guard.

‘So, on that note. Um, I was I was trying to kind of get into the head of Donald Trump on what what he’s doing. I think most of this is driven by politics,’ she said.

‘What I think he’s doing is he is baiting liberals and liberal governors like Gavin Newsom into taking the bait and adopting rhetoric that he thinks is going to be divisive and damaging ahead of the midterm.’

Goldberg also jumped in, responding to comments from House Speaker Mike Johnson saying Newsom should be ‘tarred and feathered’ for defying Trump in the governor’s live address on Tuesday night.

‘That’s what they did to black people all throughout the United States,’ she griped. ‘FYI to Mike Johnson, that is probably not the direction you want to go in right now.’

Co-host Sara Haines, meanwhile, called it a ‘waste of money’ to send in the National Guard – a move Newsom pointed could have gone to LA’s fire recovery.

She also claimed on Tuesday’s show that the president was trying to ‘create a scene’ by sending troops in.

The estimated cost for the deployment is $134 million, a number that covers travel, housing, and food for federal agents.

‘He wants to say he was justified,’ Haines said at the time.

She said the president was trying to capitalize on his immigration stance after losing support on other issues.

‘His ratings are dropping. ‘I think he has a strategy,’ she said. Haines also maintained the demonstrations seen across the city had been ‘non-violent’ – before Trump sent soldiers in.

The arrival of Trump’s military reinforcements brought its own set of challenges on Tuesday, with Newsom filing an emergency motion for a temporary restraining order.

‘I just filed an emergency motion to block Trump’s illegal deployment of Marines and National Guard in Los Angeles,’ he wrote on X.

‘Trump is turning the U.S. military against American citizens. The courts must immediately block these illegal actions.’

The state said the order would ‘prevent the use of federalized National Guard and active duty Marines for law enforcement purposes on the streets of a civilian city.’

‘They must be stopped, immediately.’

A judge denied the motion and instead granted the Trump administration an extension of time to respond to Newsom’s filing.

Protests in the City Of Angels continued Wednesday for the sixth day. Hundreds of arrests have been made.
