Cleveland Museum of Art's Parade the Circle postponed due to weather

Cleveland Museum of Art officials said to “stay tuned” for an upcoming rain date announcement.

Due to the rainy weather in Northeast Ohio, the Cleveland Museum of Art has decided to postpone its annual Parade the Circle event that was scheduled for Saturday in Wade Oval.

In an announcement made on Saturday morning, the museum shared that both the main event and the Circle Village would be rescheduled, and they advised everyone to watch out for updates on the new date.

The museum emphasized that the safety and enjoyment of the artists, performers, and community are their main concerns, and stated that the current weather conditions would not permit a safe or festive celebration.

Cleveland has experienced heavy rain showers and standing water on some roads Saturday morning as a surge of gulf moisture meets up with a stalled front, according to the 3News Weather Team. The National Weather service issued a Flood Advisory for several Northeast Ohio counties, including Cuyahoga County. Motorists should make sure to avoid any standing water on the roadways and aavoid low-lined areas Saturday morning.

Conditions are expected to moderate as soon as lunchtime Saturday, with rain predicted to be replaced by peeks of sunshine in the afternoon.

Parade the Circle began in 1990 to commemorate the art museum’s 75th anniversary with a celebration of visual art, dance, design, and community spirit. Over the years, it has evolved into a marquee event with thousands of participants and thousands more spectators.

The annual event is the culmination of months of artistic effort by local dance troupes, churches, schools, senior centers, and cultural organizations—all working under the towering roof of the museum’s “build tent,” where art takes shape and community bonds are formed.
