Authorities suspect that a 57-year-old man from Joliet was behind the wheel of a Buick Regal traveling west on Black Road towards Magnolia Drive. It is believed that he suddenly swerved to the left and entered the eastbound lane, leading to a direct collision with a Buick Encore.

The collision caused the Buick Regal to hit a Chevrolet Silverado, which was heading eastbound on Black Road.

The Joliet Fire Department promptly transferred the Buick Regal’s driver to St. Joseph Medical Center, where he was tragically declared deceased. As of now, his identity has not been made public.

The female driver of the Buick Encore, a 68-year-old from Joliet, along with her companion, a 69-year-old woman from Lake Station, Indiana, were also rushed to the same medical facility in critical condition following the accident.

The Chevrolet’s driver was not injured.

The roadway was temporarily closed as police investigated.

The Joliet Police Department asked anyone with information to call them at 815-724-3193.

Further information was not immediately available.
