New footage shows shocking moment Browns rookie Shedeur Sanders and 'girlfriend' are pulled over by cops

Shedeur Sanders’ attempt to persuade an Ohio police officer was unsuccessful as he was cited for driving 101mph in a 60mph zone, according to newly released police footage from Daily Mail.

Sanders and another driver named Jasmine Hammond were pulled over in the early hours of a Tuesday morning in Strongsville, a Cleveland suburb, as per the citation. Hammond’s connection to Sanders is not clearly defined, but one officer in the footage refers to her as the former Colorado star’s girlfriend.

The citation notes Hammond’s speed at 92mph. However, despite this, the officer decides not to issue a ticket to Hammond, who is shown sitting in her car behind Sanders’ pickup truck in the video.

‘I’m gonna cut you a break,’ the officer told Sanders. ‘I’m not going to give her a ticket… but 101, I got a dash cam and stuff, man, like…’

The first-year quarterback responded respectfully: ‘I know.’

Sanders and the two cops remained pleasant with each other throughout the stop, which ended with a rather curious exchange after the 23-year-old handed what appeared to be a business card to one officer.

‘I don’t know who that is,’ the officer told Sanders after looking at what he was given. ‘I already wrote [the ticket], man. You got to give that to me, before. I’m going to give your girl a break, OK?’

Much of the footage is typically procedural. The officer runs Sanders’ Colorado plates and his Mississippi license, which he presumably got during his stint playing for his famous father Deion at Jackson State.

Shedeur would famously transfer to Boulder when Deion took over the Colorado football program in 2023 before playing two seasons for the Buffaloes, winning the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award as the nation’s top upperclassmen quarterback and shockingly falling to the Browns in the fifth round of April’s NFL Draft.

Remarkably, the officer seemed unaware of all of that when he first read Sanders’ license.

‘Shedon Sanders,’ he said.

The officer would quickly put the pieces together.

‘Deion Sanders’ kid,’ he realized.

The other officer then asked: ‘Oh, is that Shedeur?’

As the cop explained in the clip, Sanders has the right to pay a fine or fight the ticket in court.

Sanders recently completed his first minicamp with the Browns and is now off until July 18, when rookies are required to report to Cleveland’s 2025 training camp.

He recently signed a four-year, $4.6 million deal that included his $447,000 signing bonus – which represents the only guaranteed portion of the deal.

That’s significant, because if Sanders is facing a crowded depth chart at quarterback as he attempts to make the Browns as a rookie. The team currently has veteran Joe Flacco, journeyman backup Kenny Pickett and injured former starter Deshaun Watson, not to mention Shedeur’s fellow rookie, Dillon Gabriel.

ESPN’s Daniel Oyefusi believes that Sanders’ roster spot isn’t ‘guaranteed’ and projects he’ll have to improve to move up the depth chart.

Sanders’ stunning downfall at April’s draft has largely been blamed on a supposed attitude problem he displayed during meetings with league teams. His supporters, including President Donald Trump, argued the decorated passer should have been drafted earlier, while detractors think Sanders lacks the talent to overcome his perceived personality issues.

Former NFL MVP Boomer Esiason has since claimed on his morning radio show that Sanders slipped from a projected first-round pick to No. 144 because teams didn’t want an ‘entitled person.’ Other league insiders reported Sanders intentionally botched interviews with certain teams he didn’t want to play with.

The fall may have cost Shedeur around $40 million over the life of his first NFL contract.

Fortunately, Shedeur made a reported $6.5 million in name, image and likeness deals during his time at Jackson State and Colorado.
