As tensions persist between Israel and Iran, U.S. Ambassador to Israel, Mike Huckabee, has stated that preparations are being made for Americans who wish to leave the country.
Ambassador Huckabee advised American citizens looking to evacuate Israel to register at https://mytravel.state.gov/s/step. He mentioned that efforts are being made to secure military, commercial, charter flights, and even cruise ships for evacuation purposes. He emphasized the importance of taking the opportunity to evacuate if a seat is offered and advised families in Israel to remain close to shelter and heed the sirens.
The U.S. Embassy in Israel, in line with recent updates, reiterated in a security alert dated June 19 that all U.S. government personnel and their families should continue to stay in safe locations.
“We will alert the U.S. citizen community if there is additional information to share regarding departure options,” the notice states. “If you are a U.S. citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident currently in Israel or the West Bank and seeking U.S. government assistance to depart, please complete this form so the Department of State can better assist you and provide you with timely updates: https://mytravel.state.gov/s/crisis-intake.”
President Donald Trump has not ruled out the possibility of American military intervention to help Israel stamp out Iranian efforts to develop nuclear weapons.
