Nearly a dozen people were shot Saturday night near a South Carolina veterans’ center during a “Juneteenth celebration.”
The Anderson County Sheriff’s Office has officially reported that a minimum of 10 individuals sustained gunshot wounds, with one fatality, following a conflict that erupted in the parking area of the nearby Veterans of Foreign Wars establishment.

Following the shooting, hundreds of people scattered, leaving behind shoes and debris in the road.
About 50 law enforcement officers, emergency medical services (EMS) personnel, firefighters, highway patrol officers, and South Carolina Department of Natural Resources (SCDNR) agents promptly arrived at what authorities described as a disorderly and confused situation.

“This remains an active investigation and detectives and deputies continue to work this unfolding scene,” the agency said.Â
