Several Ohio leaders backed the U.S. strikes on Iran nuclear sites, with Trump terming it an “historic moment.”
Ohio officials responded to President Donald Trump’s announcement of the U.S. military striking three sites in Iran alongside Israel to target its nuclear program.
The decision to engage directly in the conflict followed Israel’s series of strikes on Iran over the past week. These strikes aimed to eliminate Iran’s air defenses, offensive missile capabilities, and damage its nuclear facilities. U.S. and Israeli authorities highlighted the effectiveness of American stealth bombers and the 30,000-pound bunker buster bomb they carry, which presented the best option for destroying well-fortified underground sites linked to the Iranian nuclear program.
Trump confirmed the successful attack on the three nuclear sites in Iran, namely Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan. He shared the completion of the operation on social media, stating that all planes had exited Iranian airspace after dropping a full payload of bombs on the primary target, Fordow.
Trump added in a later post that he would address the nation at 10 p.m. Eastern time, writing “This is an HISTORIC MOMENT FOR THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, ISRAEL, AND THE WORLD. IRAN MUST NOW AGREE TO END THIS WAR. THANK YOU!”
Sen. Jon Husted claimed Trump took appropriate action to prevent Iran from producing nuclear weapons, adding, “Strength and certainty are the best pathways to peace and America’s national security.”
Attorney General Dave Yost called the U.S. strikes a “somber moment in history.”

Ohio Reps. Jim Jordan and Max Miller also gave their support following Trump’s announcement:
Ohio House Minority Leader Allison Russo said the president has escalated the country’s involvement.
U.S. Rep. Joyce Beatty also shared some reservations about the strikes, saying “Trump must respect the Constitution and pursue peace.”
President Donald Trump said in an address that Iran’s key nuclear sites were “completely and fully obliterated” by U.S. strikes.
Trump made the comments at the White House Saturday night hours after announcing the U.S. military had carried out strikes against three key nuclear facilities in Iran.
The president also warned Tehran against carrying out retaliatory attacks against the U.S., saying Iran has choice between “peace or tragedy.”
Iran’s nuclear agency on Sunday confirmed attacks took place on its Fordo, Isfahan and Natanz atomic sites, but is insisting its work will not be stopped.
The Atomic Energy Organization of Iran issued the statement after President Donald Trump announced the American attack on the facilities.
“The Atomic Energy Organization of Iran assures the great Iranian nation that despite the evil conspiracies of its enemies, with the efforts of thousands of its revolutionary and motivated scientists and experts, it will not allow the development of this national industry, which is the result of the blood of nuclear martyrs, to be stopped,” it said in its statement.
