The Gilded Age is back on HBO and MAX with its captivating storyline set in New York City and Newport, Rhode Island during the late 19th century, a time of stark wealth inequality. The show focuses on the clash between the newly rich Robber Barons and the traditional elite of “old New York,” descendants of the city’s early settlers.
In the latest episode, Bertha Russell (played by Carrie Coon) successfully launches the Metropolitan Opera, a new social hub for the city’s upper class, and now sets her sights on finding a suitable match for her daughter Gladys (played by Taissa Farmiga).

Last week, DECIDER attended both a panel and a press conference for the Season 3 premiere. In both, when Gilded Age creator Julian Fellowes was asked about the possibility of a fourth season, he demurred.
âYou have as much idea as we do, that I will say,â Fellowes said before getting cheeky. âI always love it though, as I was saying yesterday, you always ask these questions, knowing youâre not going to get a decent answer. And I never really quite understand why, unless itâs just the fun of us saying weâre not going tell you! But we donât know either at the moment.”
Actress Denée Benton then made her appeal to the journalists in the room and watching over Zoom: “Please watch and help us.”
