33-year-old Stephanie Campbell was discovered shot to death on a dirt road on Saint Helena Island, South Carolina. After four months, the police have arrested a suspect for her murder.
The suspect, 41-year-old Anthony Alfrado Brown, was already in custody for an armed robbery that occurred on the same day Campbell’s body was found. The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office revealed that Brown was swiftly identified as the suspect in the robbery and apprehended two days later.
Besides facing charges for the convenience store robbery on Lady’s Island, Brown now also faces charges of murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.
According to the Island Packet, Brown was seen on surveillance video taking $176 and about $45 worth of merchandise from the Circle K store and fleeing in a pickup truck.
The sheriff’s office said that Brown was identified “early in the investigation” as one of the last people to see Campbell alive. They did not, however, explain why it took four months to charge him with the crime or say how Brown and Campbell were connected.
