Will There Be a ‘Godfather of Harlem’ Season 5?

Fans had to wait a long time for the fourth season of Godfather of Harlem to premiere on MGM+. The third season of the Forest Whitaker-led crime drama about 1960s New York City gangster Bumpy Johnson concluded in March 2023, but good things come to those who wait.

The fourth season debuted in June 2025, and fans were elated about the return of Whitaker’s Bumpy Johnson. Season 4 centers on the war between Bumpy and New York’s Mafia families for control of Harlem, and also features the arrival of gangster Frank Lucas (Rome Flynn).

Note to self: Rewatch American Gangster on Netflix.

The fourth season of Godfather of Harlem recently concluded, so what does the future hold for this MGM+ fan favorite? Will there be a fifth season of Godfather of Harlem? Here’s everything we know.

The fourth season consists of ten episodes.

Yes. The Season 4 finale (“Unity Day”) debuted Sunday, June 22, 2025, on MGM+.

All four seasons of Godfather of Harlem are streaming on MGM+, which is available for $6.99/month. You can also add MGM+ to your Amazon account for an additional $6.99/month. Amazon offers a seven-day free trial for new subscribers.

Finally, you can also watch MGM+ via Philo or fuboTV.

The series hasn’t officially been renewed for a fifth season, but showrunner Chris Brancato is optimistic about the show’s future (h/t Just Jared).

“They tell me this show premiered very, very well [this season],” Brancato told The Hollywood Reporter during a May 2025 interview. “That seems to indicate — knock on wood, because I never know for sure until they tell me — that there will be a fifth season. Bumpy died in ‘68, and we’re in ‘66 right now. So, the fact is that Bumpy can run his course as a character, depending on Forest and depending on the appetite of the network.”

Again, we have no official information to report, but based on the above info and the way Season 4 ended, we expect Godfather of Harlem to return for a fifth season.

Yes. Seasons 1-3 of the series are currently streaming on Hulu.

If you’re new to Hulu, you can get started with a 30-day free trial on the streamer’s basic (with ads) plan. After the trial period, you’ll pay $9.99/month. If you want to upgrade to Hulu ad-free, it costs $18.99/month.

If you want to stream even more and save a few bucks a month while you’re at it, we recommend subscribing to one of the Disney+ Bundles, all of which include Hulu. These bundles start at $10.99/month for ad-supported Disney+ and Hulu and goes up to $29.99/month for Disney+, Hulu, and Max, all ad-free.
