Brad Simpson, who is the spouse of Suzanne Simpson, a realtor from Texas who has disappeared, is currently in custody under suspicion of being involved in the death of the 51-year-old mother of four. Additionally, his business partner, James “Val” Cotter, has been formally charged this week in connection with the investigation.
James “Val” Cotter was indicted by a grand jury on Monday for allegedly tampering with evidence to hinder an investigation and for possessing illegal weapons, as per records from the Bexar County Jail, as reported by KSAT.
Cotter, who has a long-standing friendship and business partnership with Brad Simpson, is accused of concealing a gun belonging to Simpson after they had a communication that included a series of alarming messages on October 8. This exchange occurred just two days after Suzanne Simpson went missing and before Brad’s arrest on October 9.
The indictments also add that on Oct. 7 Simpson “did then and there, knowing that an offense had been committed, namely a murder, alter, destroy, and conceal a human corpse, with intent to impair its availability as evidence in a subsequent investigation related to the murder.”
Authorities said there are no signs of Suzanne being alive since her husband allegedly assaulted her on Oct. 6, and that this has been verified by her cellphone records, financial records, family, friends and co-workers.
