A West Virginia woman was charged last week with child abuse after she allegedly pinned her daughter down and pulled two teeth out of her mouth.
According to the Raleigh County Sheriff’s Office, witnesses reported that during the incident, Rebecca Bailey shouted that her 5-year-old daughter was possessed by a demon while brandishing a cross. She proceeded to extract the child’s two lower front teeth before another family member, who had been asleep, woke up and intervened.
Following medical attention, the girl was deemed to be in a secure environment and was entrusted to a responsible family member, as stated by the sheriff’s office.
Subsequently, Bailey was arrested on charges of child abuse causing physical harm and was placed in the Southern Regional Jail, where she remained in custody on a $50,000 bond, according to WVNS.
