An investigation is underway into Gloria Zamora’s death.
On June 21, a tragic incident occurred where the fitness influencer, aged 40, and a man named Hector Garduno were fatally shot while having dinner outside a sushi restaurant in Fontana, California.
A GoFundMe page set up by Zamora’s family shared the devastating news, expressing profound sorrow over the unexpected and sudden loss of Gloria, who was described as a cherished mother, sister, daughter, and friend. The family expressed gratitude for the support received during this difficult time and for helping them pay tribute to Gloria’s memory as they embark on the journey of healing.
A GoFundMe page was also created for Garduno, 43, the father of four daughters.
The heart-wrenching news also revealed the untimely passing of their father, described as a beloved and hardworking man who was the victim of a tragic and senseless act of violence. The family expressed deep sadness over the loss, emphasizing the irreplaceable void left by his absence, which has left a lasting impact on their lives.
According to the Fontana Police Department, Zamora and her date were shot to death by her estranged husband.
The suspect, identified as Tomas Alberto Tamayo Lizarraga, fired at the pair in the parking lot of the restaurant, police confirmed to Us Weekly on June 24. The investigation into their deaths and Lizarraga’s involvement is ongoing.

When Did the Shooting Occur?
On June 21, 2025, at approximately 9:40 p.m., Fontana Police Officers responded to reports of gunfire in front of a business.
Upon arrival, officers discovered that Garduno and Zamora had been shot outside the location.
What Happened to the Suspect?
Fontana Police revealed to Us that Lizarraga “opened fire on the victims before being confronted by an off-duty law enforcement officer who happened to witness the incident.”
An officer-involved shooting occurred, police stated, and the suspect was pronounced dead at the scene. Lizarraga was found to be the estranged husband of Zamora, per officials.
Both Zamora and Garduno were transported to local hospitals, where they later succumbed to their injuries. Police do not know the relationship between the pair.
What Has Gloria Zamora Said About the Suspect?
Days before she was shot and killed by Lizarraga, Zamora spoke out about why she ended her marriage.
“Like a year and a half ago, that’s when my whole second marriage started falling apart because obviously I’m dedicating time into fitness and trying to grow something,” Zamora explained on the June 16 episode of the “HERizon” podcast. “People started getting insecure and not allowing me to thrive in something that I’m just so passionate about. I felt like that person was just holding me back. I decided to end my second marriage and that’s when a lot of the problems started.”
How Is Gloria Zamora Being Remembered?
In addition to being a mom to seven children, Zamora was praised as being “a light in her community.”
“She uplifted and inspired countless women, reminding them of their worth, their strength, and their potential,” a post on her GoFundMe page stated. “She always said, ‘Women can do anything they set their minds to,’ and she lived those words every day. Her courage, kindness and determination touched the lives of everyone who knew her.”
