The attorney, who decided not to reveal their identity, asserted that the couple had officially gotten married in the United States before their extravagant celebrations in Venice.
Additionally, an Italian official disclosed that Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez had not submitted any paperwork for a civil ceremony in Venice, which is a legal requirement in Italy.

Jeff Bezos And Lauren Sanchez Are Already Married In The U.S.

Media outlets have been abuzz with reports throughout June about the lavish wedding celebrations of Bezos and Sanchez, scheduled to occur in Venice this week.
Several reports even suggested that the couple planned to exchange vows on June 27 on the picturesque Venetian island of San Giorgio Maggiore.
However, while the world eagerly awaits the ceremony, a source, identified as a well-known Florida-based attorney, has claimed that Bezos and Sanchez have already legally tied the knot in the U.S. ahead of their upcoming celebration in Venice.
“Often, a marriage in [a] foreign country is not valid in the USA, or creates other issues, so yes, it is likely they are already married,” said the source, per Page Six.

The claim appeared to gain further credibility when a city official confirmed to The Times of London that Bezos and Sanchez made no official request to hold a “civil ceremony” in Venice, as required by Italian law.
“I can totally rule out that they will have a civil ceremony in Venice under Italian law,” an official told the news outlet.

Jeff Bezos And Lauren Sanchez Have Been ‘Secretly Married’ For At Least A Month

Another source close to the situation told the Daily Mail that Bezos and Sanchez have been married for over a month now.
“They have been married for at least a month, more than a month. The marriage is fully legal and took place in America under American law,” the source said.
They continued, “When they were planning the wedding, they were clear about the fact that they were already secretly married.”
“There is no application for a wedding licence from the couple because it was not required,” the source added. “Whatever happens at the wedding on Friday, it will not be a wedding. Under Italian law, it will not be a wedding celebration, any vows said or rings exchanged will have no legal meaning.”

The Couple’s Alleged Prenup Will Be’ Enforceable’ Everywhere

Previously, rumors also swirled that Bezos was keen on having Sanchez sign a prenuptial agreement, especially after his last divorce from ex-wife MacKenzie Scott cost him several billion dollars worth of Amazon shares.
The alleged prenup is now said to have been signed already, although the details of its contents remain under wraps.
If a day ever comes when it is needed, it will be enforceable, despite the couple having their big wedding overseas.
“They can get married anywhere as their prenup would generally be drafted to include its enforceability everywhere,” a source said.
However, a split between Bezos and Sanchez will only be possible if either party files in the “state of the primary residence,” which is presumed to be Florida.

“If they live in Florida, no matter where they marry or what the prenup says, they would have to divorce in Florida,” the Florida lawyer said. “Likewise, if they left Florida and moved to New York as a primary residence, they would have to divorce in NY. A prenup cannot confer jurisdiction on a state to grant a divorce without residency in that state.”

How The Couple Has Tried To Outsmart Wedding Protesters

Ahead of their nuptials, Bezos and Sanchez have had to contend with protesters who disapprove of them using the city as the location for their celebration.
This forced the Amazon CEO to take several security precautions, including sending in a team of elite security personnel to sweep the hotel he was staying at before his arrival.
According to Page Six, Bezos and Sanchez also intentionally booked several venues across a range of dates to keep paparazzi and protesters guessing.
“The couple has deliberately kept multiple options open, booking several venues across a range of dates,” an insider told the news outlet. “The strategy serves both to mislead paparazzi and protesters, and to ensure contingency plans in the event of last-minute logistical setbacks.”
