In Denver, a motorcyclist was taken into custody after being involved in a collision that resulted in the death of their passenger and the closure of a section of the southbound lanes of Interstate 25 on Thursday evening.
Shortly before 8:40 p.m. on Thursday, the Denver Police Department informed the public via social media that they were looking into a serious traffic accident between a driver and a motorcyclist on the southbound lanes of I-25 near Park Avenue West.

Both individuals involved in the incident were rushed to a nearby hospital. Updates provided by the Denver PD on Friday revealed that the passenger of the motorcycle had succumbed to their injuries and passed away.
The motorcycle operator, identified as 21-year-old Jacob Blackmon, was arrested for investigation of vehicular homicide. Denver PD said speeding appears to be a factor in the crash.
Authorities shut down southbound I-25 between I-70 and 20th Street to process and clean up the scene. The roadway has since reopened.
