Fire reported about a mile offshore
CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. – A burning sailboat with four people onboard was successfully rescued by a bystander’s boat over the weekend, as reported by Cape Canaveral Fire Rescue.
The 61-foot boat was engulfed in flames approximately one mile off the coast of Cape Canaveral when the evacuation took place, with all four individuals being taken to safety aboard the bystander’s vessel.
Following the rescue operation, the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office assisted in bringing the rescued boaters back to shore, with no reports of any injuries during the incident, according to Cape Canaveral Fire Rescue.
Officials said the Coast Guard and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is investigating the blaze.
