An Ohio woman was arrested for child abuse after witnesses claimed to see her violently dunking her 3-month-old infant in a lake.
Warren County police arrested Sharon Rose O’Hara, 39, on charges of felony child abuse. Witnesses alleged that in July, O’Hara was seen slamming a car seat with an infant in it on the ground at Caesar Creek State Park.
Afterwards, O’Hara supposedly escalated the situation by taking the car seat and baby to the water where she forcefully submerged them. Subsequently, she took the baby out and began dunking the infant in the lake. Onlookers intervened to stop O’Hara and assist the baby, with some individuals contacting emergency services.
At the park, O’Hara was also accompanied by a 9-year-old child, as outlined by Cincinnati Fox affiliate WXIX. This child informed authorities that both children had been mistreated by their mother leading up to the park incident.
The condition of the infant was not made clear.
“On July 28, 2024, at Caesar Creek State Park, defendant caused serious physical harm to her three-month-old child and created a substantial risk to the health and safety of her nine-year-old child,” a grand jury report stated.

WXIX reported that the children were in the custody of a relative.
