Trinity Rodman Says Dennis Rodman Is ‘Not A Dad’

Dennis Rodman’s post came hours after Trinity’s comment during her appearance on the December 18 episode of the “Call Her Daddy” podcast. She said of her father, “He’s not a dad. Maybe by blood, but nothing else.”

The soccer player went ahead to share details of her relationship with her dad, explaining that she and her brother Dennis “DJ” Rodman, who her father shares with his ex-wife Michelle Moyer, had been quiet about their strained relationship.

However, Trinity said she was now ready to speak about it. She added, “Me and my brother have been very generous with the way that we’ve talked about it and very unselfish. We never want to make him look bad and that is at the cost of holding in a lot of issues that we’ve gone through and trauma.”

Trinity emphasized that she had always tried to make it obvious during past interviews that her father wasn’t present and revealed that her relationship with him declined drastically after he and her mother’s divorce in 2012.

She also revealed that Dennis offered financial support to her mom in her early childhood but stopped doing so after their divorce. The 22-year-old shared that she lived in a car with her mom and brother during their childhood, but Moyer did her best to smoothen the difficult situation.

The Washington Spirit forward revealed that her father partied all the time and brought random women into their home and they struggled to live with him. She stressed that it was frustrating seeing Dennis being candid about his parenting in interviews.

“I do believe that he wishes that he could fight his demons,” she said per E! News. “I roll my eyes because you hear something so many times, but he does nothing to change it. Like, ‘I wish I was a better dad.’ He said that in so many interviews. It’s like, OK. Then do something.”

Trinity recalled when Dennis showed up for one of her games — the National Women’s Soccer League semi-finals in 2021, which was uncomfortable for her. “Going into my rookie year, going into a quarterfinal, I’m already sh-tting my pants as it is,” she said. “I’m like, ‘oh my f-cking gosh.’ Like, there’s no way this is happening right now. Mind you, I haven’t seen him or talked to him in months.”

Despite being angry about her father’s presence at the game, which ruined her “happy moment,” Trinity warmed up to him and they shared an emotional hug. She revealed that Dennis promised to keep in touch with her but ultimately failed to do so and she didn’t hear from him until this year.

Trinity, who helped the USWNT win a gold medal at the Paris Olympics, detailed some of the things that caused her dad to drift away from his family. She said, “With how successful he was and how rich he was, he was surrounded by a lot of toxic people who would take his money and take advantage of him. Because he was in alcohol, he was brainwashed and didn’t really have any control over anything.”

She said his family did their best to support him but it didn’t yield results. Trinity explained, “We tried to be that foundation and to be the good people around him because, in reality, we never asked for anything unless we really needed it.” She added, “We just want you. He’s never understood that fact cause he’s never experienced it.”

The disgruntled daughter stated that her dad messed up family issues and never understood that people just wanted to be around him and make him happy. She concluded, “He’s always thinking money, money, money.”

In addition to Trinity and DJ, Dennis Rodman also has a daughter, Alexis Rodman, who he shares with his first wife, Annie Bakes. He and Bakes married in 1992 after dating for five years but divorced after 82 days.
