Firefighters used a ladder to rescue a family of three, including an infant, from the upstairs home. A man was able to escape the downstairs home by himself.
CLEVELAND — Cleveland firefighters rescued four people, including an infant, from a fire inside a two-family duplex in the city’s Old Brooklyn neighborhood Thursday night, officials said.
According to a Facebook post from the Association of Cleveland FireFighters, IAFF Local 93, the rescue took place on Spring Road some time before 8:11 p.m.
A mother who was in the duplex’s upstairs home told 3News she was giving her two children, including an infant less than 1 year old, a bath when the fire broke out. She said she saw smoke in her kitchen when she came out of her bathroom, then grabbed her children and exited to a balcony on the home’s front porch.Â
An EMS official said firefighters used a ladder to rescue all three victims from the home.Â
One man was able to escape the downstairs home on his own. After the fire was extinguished, he re-entered the home and found his dog and cat alive.
