On their talk show episode, Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos shared an uncomfortable moment. Ripa disclosed that she once confronted her neighbors for throwing an unauthorized gathering.
The conversation turned cringeworthy as they discussed Airbnb’s implementation of anti-party technology for New Year’s Eve. This prompted Ripa, aged 54, to reminisce about a group of students renting a property next to hers who held a party during the pandemic lockdown.
She recounted how she called the police about the noise from the party. When they couldn’t assist her, she took matters into her own hands by visiting the noisy house herself.
While Consuelos giggled at his wife’s anecdote at first, he appeared to grow more uneasy as she went on.
‘There were students staying on certain floors,’ Ripa remembered. ‘And then this one floor… they rented out to somebody who allegedly, I guess, was staying there, as a student or whatever.
‘But they were throwing illegal raves, like discos.’
At this point, Consuelos, 53, explained that he wasn’t there because he was in Vancouver at the time.
Continuing with the anecdote, Ripa shared: ‘First I called 3-1-1. Then I called 9-1-1.
Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos had an uncomfortable exchange during Thursday’s episode
Consuelos appeared to grow uneasy as his wife recalled angrily turning up at a neighbor’s house during the COVID-19 lockdown after they woke her up with noise from a party
‘9-1-1 was like, “Ma’am, a party’s not an emergency.” And I was like, “What do I do to make them stop?”‘
After not getting the help she needed from the emergency services, Ripa stormed over to the property herself.
She shared: ‘Finally, in the middle of the night, in winter, I, in a bathrobe, like a maniac, go over there and bang on the door.’
Ripa pressed every buzzer on the building to try and get in, and eventually she gained access to the right floor where she was asked if she was from Uber.
‘I’m like, “I’m not the Uber, I’m your neighbor.” These two college kids come out and I go, “First of all, what you’re doing is illegal,”‘ she shared.
‘They’re like, “No, no, no, we live here.” I go, “No, you don’t. I actually know who lives here, and it’s not you. I’m sure they don’t know you’re throwing a discotheque here. Turn the music off. It’s a Tuesday.”‘
Consuelos then quipped: ‘You became that person.’
That didn’t set well with Ripa who retorted: ‘No, I’m not that person. They are that person.’
Ripa revealed that she stormed over to the house after failing to get help from the cops
At first, Consuelos giggled along to Ripa’s story, but as time went on he appeared more awkward
Unhappy with her husband’s responded, she said to him, ‘I like that suddenly I’m the villain in the story.’
She eventually confirmed – while her husband looked away awkwardly – that she did get them to shut the music off.
‘It was 3 o’clock in the morning. On a Tuesday,’ she added. ‘What are you doing?’
The tense conversation comes just days after Consuelos made a cheeky quip about Ripa after she revealed she had been ‘very silent’ on their recent trip to Italy.
During Monday’s episode of Live with Kelly and Mark, the TV host shared that they had headed to Europe so that his spouse could see her first Campobasso Wolves game as the pair are both investors in the club.
Speaking about their trip, Ripa told viewers that she was forced to keep quiet on their vacation because she can’t speak Italian.
She said: ‘In Italy, I become even more silent because I don’t speak Italian.
‘So I am the most silent version of myself that I’ve ever been.’
Ripa and Consuelos have been married for 27 years and share three children; Michael, 27, Lola, 23, and Joaquin, 21
They eloped to Las Vegas on May 1, 1996, and have been together ever since
Consuelos then admitted that he was a fan of his wife being mute, and joked: ‘I kind of liked it. It was really nice.’
‘Your fantasy version of me,’ Ripa responded. ‘Somebody who has no idea what’s going on.’
Consuelos revealed that because he speaks Italian, he took the helm on their trip and would order food for them every time they dined out.
But Kelly wasn’t best pleased with her husband’s efforts and branded him the ‘worst translator.’
‘For the record,’ she continued. ‘He is the only one of us that speaks Italian, and therefore, we rely on him to tell us things. So he, in turn, rewards us by not telling us a thing.’
