Netflix Hypes 'Back In Action' With Video Featuring Jamie Foxx And Cameron Diaz

Netflix released a new video on its Instagram account on Friday to promote the upcoming movie, “Back in Action,” which stars Jamie Foxx and Cameron Diaz. The action-packed film is set to start streaming on Netflix on January 17.

In the video, Foxx can be seen playing a grand piano while enthusiastically singing the title “Back in Action,” with Diaz dancing beside him in a stylish pin-striped, strapless pantsuit.

The post was captioned, “Cameron Diaz and Jamie Foxx musically reminisce about their friendship. BACK IN ACTION premieres January 17.”

Jamie Foxx And Cameron Diaz Star In ‘Back in Action’ On Netflix

Diaz and Foxx have a longstanding friendship, having collaborated on various projects over the past 25 years. They first appeared together in the 1999 sports film “Any Given Sunday” alongside Al Pacino, and reunited for the remake of “Annie” in 2014.

“People don’t even realize how long we’ve been friends,” said Foxx. “True. Since we were in ‘Any Given Sunday’ together, which was in 1999,” replied Diaz.

“And now, we’re back in action, baby,” she added.

Foxx began to improvise a song about the Netflix movie and sang, “Back in action, and we’ve been friends, since before Apple started making the iPod, and now they make the iPhone and not the iPod,” he joked.

Jamie Foxx Jokes About Martha Stewart And Snoop Dogg

As Foxx continued to sing about the Netflix movie, he managed to joke about rapper Snoop Dogg and his friendship with lifestyle guru, Martha Stewart. Stewart became good friends with the “Gin and Juice” artist after meeting on her cooking show, “The Martha Stewart Show” back in 2008.

Foxx continued to play the piano as Diaz said, “Tell ’em what else happened, Jamie.” The “Ray” actor sang his reply.

“What else happened was Martha Stewart got super into weed and became best friends with Snooooooooop.” Snoop Dogg is well known for his affection for marijuana, and a puff of smoke appeared before the camera as Diaz noted what else had happened since 1999.

Cameron Diaz Made Four ‘Shrek’ Movies

The song continued as Diaz recalled that she’d made four “Shrek” movies. Diaz played Princess Fiona in the animated films.

“I made four Shrek movies,” she said. “We also did ‘Annie’ together,” Foxx said as Diaz added, “That’s right.”

“And we lived through so much,” Foxx continued. “We lived through Keyboard Cat, Pizza Rat, NFTs, DVDs, Corn Kid, Bean Dad, Salt Bae, Left Shark, Pink Sauce, Grimace Shake and ‘The Dress.'”

“Oh yeah, which was white and gold,” said Diaz as Foxx hit a high note and sang, “I thought it was black and bluuuuuuue.”

Diaz continued, “And now we’re back together for another movie, and I am just so excited.”

“Yes. Because…, ” Foxx replied before singing, “We’re ‘Back in Actioooon.'”

Jamie Foxx And Cameron Diaz Play Ex-Spies In Netflix Movie

According to PEOPLE, Foxx and Diaz play a married couple who used to work for the Central Intelligence Agency in the film.

After starting a family, the former spies are “dragged back into the world of espionage when their cover is blown.” The trailer features the duo in a fiery scene at a gas station.

“Okay, you know that I love our life,” said Emily, Diaz’s character. Foxx’s character, Matt replied, “But?”

“Tonight, something clicked,” she added as a scene of the couple fighting the two men is shown.

“For the first time in a really long time, I felt alive again. I felt like the b*tch again,” she continued.

The trailer also features the couple explaining to their children that they are former CIA operatives, prompting one of their kids to ask, “Like Jason Bourne?”

Jamie Foxx Had A Stroke While Filming The Netflix Movie

In April of 2023, Foxx was in Atlanta to film scenes from “Back in Action” when he got a headache. He began to ask a friend for an aspirin before passing out.

Foxx revealed the nature of his health scare in his Netflix special, “Jamie Foxx: What Had Happened Was…” and said that he’d had a brain bleed that led to a stroke. He was operated on immediately and spent 20 days unconscious. When he woke up, he couldn’t walk.

The Oscar winner recovered at a rehabilitation facility in Chicago and learned how to walk again. He said in his special that comedy helped him heal. “If I can stay funny, I can stay alive.”
