On Saturday night, during the North Pole Adventure event, a train car of Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad (CVSR) went off the tracks in Peninsula, Ohio.
As per a CVSR spokesperson, the incident took place around 8:53 p.m. Fortunately, although three cars derailed, they stayed upright.
No injuries were reported among the 588 passengers and crew onboard.
The following statement was released by the company shortly after the derailment:
The CVSR spokesperson emphasized, “Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad operates on tracks owned and maintained by the National Park Service in Cuyahoga Valley National Park. Safety is the top priority for both organizations, and the matter is currently being investigated.”
