Bad Tidings viewers have raged ‘what on Earth were they thinking?!’ about Strictly champ Chris McCausland and Lee Mack’s new Christmas film.
The movie was released on Sky Max and streaming service NOW on Sunday 22 December.Â
Bad Tidings stars Chris, 47, Lee, 56, Sarah Alexander and Rebekah Staton.Â
The plot revolves around two feuding neighbors, Scott (Chris) and Neil (Lee), who come together to protect their neighborhood from crime on Christmas Eve.
Scott rubs Neil up the wrong way with his living habits, and it is made worse when Scott is given role of head of the Neighbourhood Watch.Â
Their plans for the holiday are disrupted when a power outage hits the street, leading to an unexpected twist involving the troublesome Brennan family attempting to steal their Christmas presents.
Bad Tidings viewers have all said the same thing about the new Sky movieÂ
Chris and Lee play Scott and Neil in the blockbusterÂ
The movie premiered on Sunday 22 of DecemberÂ
Will Neil and Scott be able to stop them? Â
Many have complained about the flick on X – and they definitely didn’t mince their words.Â
One individual even commented, “There must be a competition for the worst Christmas movie ever, and Sky Max has surely clinched the title with Bad Tidings – what were Lee Mack and Chris McCausland thinking?”
Another brutally added: ‘#BadTidings watched 25 minutes now, not laughed once, actually quite awkward to watch.’Â
A third tweeted: ‘Been looking forward to Bad Tidings for a while. What a let down. Boring and predictable script, shockingly bad acting. Old and tired jokes. Even Lee Mack couldn’t save it. And that’s saying something. I dread to think how much Sky paid for this. Shocking.’Â
‘I must be getting grumpy in my old age because Bad Tidings is one of the worst things I’ve ever seen,’ a fourth wrote.Â
Another confessed: ‘#badtidings Sorry… But we really have tried to watch it, but to be honest it’s truly awful… Could have been so much better…’Â Â
And it didn’t stop there, with another saying: ‘#badtidings started promising and fell off so badly. Too long, poor pacing and a bang average mish mash of Christmas stories that have been done before. This won’t be on the yearly christmas watch list, watching it once is more than enough.’
Chris won this year’s series of Strictly Come DancingÂ
However, others did really enjoy what they watched on their screens.Â
One viewer said: ‘Do watch Bad Tidings with Lee Mack and Chris McClausland. It’s hilariously funny.’
‘If you have Sky and like Movies like Home Alone, check out Lee Mack, Chris McClausland in Bad Tidings for a few laughs.’
A third chimed in: ‘So I’ve just watched Bad Tidings. It was good.’Â
Another tweeted: ‘Absolutely loved Bad Tidings, Chris. It’s a Christmas treat for the whole family to enjoy.’Â
Filming for the movie started in April this year. Â
The film was written by Chris himself, alongside Laurence Rickard and Martha Howe-Douglas.Â
The Bad Tidings cast also includes Ben Crompton, Millie Kiss, Emily Coates and Josiah Eloi.Â

The release of Bad Tidings comes after Chris was crowned winner of Strictly Come Dancing 2024.Â
He won the Glitterball Trophy alongside his dance partner Dianne Buswell.Â
Earlier this month he appeared on The One Show to chat about his new film, and of course, spoke about the huge win.Â
Chris, who is the show’s first ever blind contestant, said: ‘It’s been insane. I mean it’s relentless, the show is stressful, it’s the scariest thing I’ve ever done.
‘It’s the most exhausting challenge I think I’ve ever done, but the most rewarding thing I think I’ll ever do.’Â
‘It’s been remarkable really, and I didn’t expect it to be emotional, I just thought it was dancing and I thought if you were good then you’d entertain people and they (would smile).
‘But I didn’t expect people to cry, I didn’t expect me to cry, and I kept it in until I did (the) semi-final and then once the tap was on I couldn’t get off it.’
Love Island’s Tasha Ghouri, JLS star JB Gill and actress Sarah Hadland were runners-up.Â
