Authorities arrested a Kentucky deadbeat dad after more than decade on the run as he got off a holiday cruise ship in Miami last week.
Jefferson County Attorney Mike O’Connell revealed that Dominic Weaver was in debt of over 0,000 in four distinct child support cases, according to WDRB. Subsequently, Louisville detectives traveled to Miami, apprehended him, and returned him to Kentucky, where he is currently detained.
“This is one of the most egregious events that brings something to light that I think I’ve ever seen,” O’Connell said, noting that Weaver is in arrears for between $114,000 and $120,000.
“I’m going to ask the court at the next opportunity to revoke his sentence and sentence him to four years in the state penitentiary for this offense,” O’Connell said.
“Our office does everything we can to work with people that have this obligation,” O’Connell said. “I mean everything we can, you know, to the extent of even helping find employment and do things like that.”
Weaver just avoided payment. He is scheduled to be arraigned on January 6.
