Disney released another look at its upcoming live action remake of Snow White.
In it, Rachel Zegler, who stars as the Grimm Brothers heroine, sings a new song called Waiting on a Wish.
Written by EGOT winners Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, the song sounds like it was always meant to be part of Snow White’s story.
At the age of 23, the star of West Side Story sings about waiting for a wish, holding out hope for someday, and believing that a miracle will come to find her. She envisions the girl she is meant to be and wonders if this hidden part of herself is meant to be revealed.
The movie is set to hit theaters on March 21 and also stars Gal Gadot as the Evil Queen and Andrew Burnap as the Prince.
Zegler has courted a slew of controversies since the film was announced and more recently has been blasted over her ‘badass’ portrayal of the Disney princess.

The trailer shows Snow White running away from Gadot’s Evil Queen – who is her mother – after she orders her murder.
Snow White runs away to the forest where she meets the seven dwarves with Zegler showing off her vocal prowess with ‘Waiting on a Wish’.
Snow White is also seen meeting love interest Jonathan (Andrew Burnap) before launching an offensive on the Evil Queen, saying: ‘The queen stole everything from all of us, it’s time to restore our kingdom. This is our kingdom and now we’re here to take it back.’
Zegler previously revealed that even the classic ‘fairest of them all’ quote has been given a modern makeover.
‘Magic mirror on the wall, who is the fairest one of all?’ Snow White’s evil stepmother, the Queen, asks her mystic wall hanging in the 1937 version of the movie.
But according to Zegler, that oh-so iconic line will take on a very different meaning.
‘The reality is that the cartoon was made 85 years ago and therefore it’s extremely dated when it comes to the ideas of women being in roles of power and what a woman is fit for in the world, ‘ Rachel told Entertainment Weekly.
‘And so when we came to reimagining the actual role of Snow White it became about the “fairest of them all” meaning who is the most just and who can become a fantastic leader.’

Zegler also revealed another major change to the original storyline.
‘She’s not going to be saved by the Prince and she’s the proactive one, and she’s the one who set the terms, is what makes it so relevant to where we are today,’ she said.
Gadot added: ‘She’s not going to be dreaming about true love.’
Instead, Snow White will be dreaming about becoming the best leader that she knows she can be. ‘The leader that her late father told her that she could be if she was fearless, fair, brave, and true,’ Zegler also shared with Variety.
‘The original cartoon came out in 1937, and very evidently so,’ Rachel scoffed to Extra TV in 2022. ‘There’s a big focus on her love story with a guy who literally stalks her. Weird. So we didn’t do that this time.’
‘We have a different approach to what I’m sure a lot of people will assume is a love story just because we cast a guy in the movie.
‘All of Andrew’s scenes could get cut, who knows? It’s Hollywood, baby!’ she joked.
In a separate interview, she admitted that she was ‘terrified’ when she saw the original animated Snow White film.

About the 1937 film, she said: ‘I was scared of the original version. I think I watched it once and never picked it up again. I’m being so serious.’
That same year, Zegler told Variety that her version of Snow White would be dreaming about becoming a ‘fearless leader’ rather than ‘dreaming about true love.’
‘For Snow White, there’s a famous scene where she falls into a lake, through a trapdoor-type thing in a forest. And we did it, and I got scuba diving training so that I could spend a long time underwater,’ the Golden Globe winner explained to Cosmo.
‘You learn how to use a breathing tube. I had this guy named Pete, who is ex-Navy, attached to me at all times, tethered to me.
‘And essentially I spent…I want to say a total of 48 hours training. And then shot for two whole days. It was seven hours underwater.’
