A woman from Massachusetts who had disappeared on Christmas Eve was discovered deceased in a frozen lake. Authorities suspect that she may have accidentally fallen into the icy water while out walking her dog.
Owen Kasozi, aged 30, was last spotted entering the J.C. Phillips Nature Preserve located in Beverly, Massachusetts, around 3 p.m. on Tuesday. When she did not return, various agencies initiated a search for her, as reported by the Essex County District Attorney’s Office in a statement.
Beverly Police Chief John G. LeLacheur conveyed heartfelt condolences on behalf of the Beverly Police Department to Owen Kasozi’s family. He also expressed gratitude towards all the first responders who assisted in providing some closure to the family during this challenging search operation.
Kasozi was reportedly walking her dog at the nature preserve prior to her disappearance. Authorities said that the nature preserve is a popular dog-walking location, frequented by residents.
Authorities do not suspect foul play at this time, but Kasozi’s official cause of death is pending an investigation by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (OCME), the DA’s office said. Fox News Digital has reached out to the OCME for comment.
