IDF finds Hezbollah weapons cache in underground tunnel: video

Israeli soldiers have successfully demolished a tunnel that was over 300 feet long, used by Hezbollah’s Radwan Forces as a hiding place for terrorists, as confirmed by the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) over the weekend.

The IDF uncovered this underground passage during their operations in the southern region of Lebanon. In recent times, the IDF has been conducting targeted strikes to prevent Hezbollah from obtaining weapons. This militant group had been launching attacks against Israel for more than a year until a ceasefire was reached last month.

“Working in conjunction with the Yahalom Unit, which meticulously cleared the tunnel of explosives and other dangers, our troops discovered a cache of weapons inside the tunnel, including rifles, machine guns, anti-tank missiles, and surveillance equipment,” stated the IDF in an official communication.

The IDF said all the weapons were confiscated and destroyed, along with the tunnel itself.

Under the ceasefire arrangement, Israeli forces can take up to 60 days to pull out of south Lebanon, but neither side can launch offensive operations.

Lebanon’s army told Reuters it was following up with UNIFIL and the committee supervising the ceasefire agreement regarding Israel’s continued operations in southern Lebanon.

UNIFIL said it would continue to monitor the area south of the Litani River to ensure it remains free of armed personnel and weapons, except those that belong to Lebanon’s government and UNIFIL.

Reuters contributed to this report.
