Florida police made short work locating a man who allegedly broke into a woman’s home in Tice early Sunday and stabbed her while she was sleeping.
At approximately 1:20 a.m., the Lee County Sheriff’s Office received a call and promptly dispatched a drone to locate Bonnier Jose Sarmiento Lanza, aged 33, who was found just a street away, still in possession of the knife, as reported by WFTX.
According to the sheriff’s office, Lanza forcibly entered the victim’s residence, assaulting and stabbing her multiple times. Additionally, he was reported to have attacked another individual present in the house.
It was not a random attack, investigators said, as Lanza and the victim knew one another.
The victim was taken to a nearby hospital where she was in stable condition.
Lanza is facing charges of two counts of burglary involving battery and aggravated battery with a lethal weapon. Currently, no bail has been established, and his court appearance is scheduled for December 30.
