A North Carolina woman was arrested over the weekend for child neglect after daughter was found to be “severely malnourished.”
A woman named Sarah Weber, who is 28 years old, allegedly informed the authorities that a young girl under her care had not consumed solid food for approximately six months and had been experiencing diarrhea for at least a month. According to an arrest warrant, Weber failed to seek medical attention for the girl during this period.
Weber was arrested at her rental home early Saturday morning. The owner of the home told WSOC that the girl in question was 4-years-old.
Police did not why police were sent to Weber’s home on Saturday, when they found the “severely malnourished” girl, Law&Crime reported.
The warrant stated that Weber’s failure to act resulted in the child becoming severely malnourished, a condition that was verified by a medical professional. The seriousness of the malnutrition necessitated the child’s admission to the hospital for additional assessment.
Weber was ordered held on a $25,000 bond and is due in court on Monday.
