Jimmy Kimmel Says It’s “Cruel And Unusual” To Make “Poor Kamala Harris” Certify Donald Trump’s Win: “Like Making Your Ex DJ Your Wedding”

Jimmy Kimmel kicked off his first late-night show of the year, coinciding with the four-year anniversary of the Jan. 6 insurrection, with light-hearted jabs at both Republicans and Democrats over the “peaceful” transfer of power to Donald Trump.

The late night host lamented the fact that “poor Kamala Harris” had to certify her opponent’s victory that day as vice president.

During the Jan. 6 episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live, Kimmel humorously pointed out the irony of Congress certifying Trump’s victory on such a significant date. He quipped, “This one went off without Ted Cruz having to hide in a broom closet. This time he was just in there looking at stepmom porn.”

Kimmel claimed it felt “cruel and unusual” to have Harris certify the election results.

“This is like making your ex DJ your wedding,” he joked.

He went on to call Democrats out for a rather “uneventful” Jan. 6.

Expressing his amusement, Kimmel poked fun at Vice President Harris for her committed approach to upholding the oath of office and ensuring a smooth transition of power to the incoming administration, labeling it as “boring!”

Kimmel joked that the Democrats could have thrown an insurrection of their own.

“You notice how uneventful it was today? The Democrats lost and they accepted they lost,” he continued. “There were no vegan baristas scaling the walls, no one was wearing animal horns, no one was in face paint calling themselves the BlueAnon Shaman.”

Kimmel has previously called Republicans out for lining up “to suckle Trump’s celebrity teat.”

The late night host specifically called out U.S. Representative Troy Nehls, who vowed to “embrace” whatever mission Trump set for the party. “Troy, you’re embarrassing yourself,” Kimmel quipped. “He’s not gonna sleep with you, okay?”

Jimmy Kimmel Live! airs on weeknights at 11:35/10:35c on ABC.
