A 20-year-old Pennsylvania woman was arrested early Tuesday morning after she allegedly stabbed a man when he didn’t answer her text messages.
Jillian West faces charges of attempted murder, burglary, and assault following an incident that occurred shortly before 1:30 a.m., as reported by WHP. Initially, West claimed that she had stabbed the victim in self-defense, but later confessed that this was not the case.
According to Pennsylvania State Police, the assault was recorded on video, showing West banging on the door of the residence in an attempt to lure the victim outside. A verbal altercation ensued between West and the victim, escalating into a physical confrontation with West attempting to gain entry into the house.
The footage depicted West brandishing a knife at the victim before discreetly returning it to her pocket. Subsequently, the victim pushed West to the ground, seemingly to create an opportunity for himself to retreat back inside the house.
Then, the video shows West pulling out the knife and opening the blade while entering the house. At that point, troopers say, she stabbed him in the chest. The victim called for someone else in the house for help. That person came downstairs and shut the door, leaving West outside, and began giving the victim medical attention.
Court documents say West reentered the house, and all three people got into a physical altercation.
Weset reportedly told troopers that she was upset with the victim because he took hours to respond to her messages. She said she knew where he was and walked to the home to confront him, adding that she pulled the knife out to “try to scare him.”
According to the court documents, she told police that after she thought about it she realized it wasn’t self defense and it was “wrong” to stab the victim.
The victim was flown to a trauma center for treatment. His condition is unknown.
According to WGAL, West was given a $50,000 bail and is still behind bars.
