On Wednesday, the trial began for a Texas man who allegedly killed his 2-year-old daughter in 2023.
Deontray Flanagan allegedly removed Zevaya Flanagan from daycare in March 2023 and proceeded to drive to a Walmart where the child’s mother was employed, initiating an assault on her as reported by KHOU. An ensuing police pursuit spanning 45 minutes saw Deontray Flanagan purportedly strangling his daughter while engaging in a FaceTime call with the girl’s mother and grandfather.
Deontay Flanagan is facing charges of capital murder in connection to this tragic incident. KHOU notes that he stands accused of ending his daughter’s life due to her mother’s desire to terminate their relationship and her communication with another man.
“How could you do this to your little girl?” the girl’s mother told KHOU.
The news outlet reported that Deontay Flanagan’s trial is expected to last a week.
