Macy’s announced on Thursday that the company is closing dozens of its stores nationwide as part of a “Bold New Chapter” corporate strategy.
In a statement, company representatives stated that the plan is to close approximately 150 underperforming stores within a three-year timeframe while increasing investments in their other stores until FY2026.
The CEO of Macy’s, Tony Spring, mentioned, “While closing stores is a difficult decision, it is part of our strategy to focus on productive stores, provide better product selection, and improve customer service as outlined in our Bold New Chapter plan.”
Out of the 66 planned closures, seven of those stores can be found in the Sunshine State.
However, the only Macy’s store to shutter in Central Florida is the Altamonte Furniture store along West Town Parkway.
The full list of closing Florida Macy’s locations is as follows:

Boynton Beach Mall | Boynton Beach |
Ft. Lauderdale Furniture | Ft. Lauderdale |

According to the company’s Help Center, clearance sales at closing Macy’s stores begin in January and run for around 8-12 weeks.
But for Macy’s Backstage stores and Furniture Galleries, the clearance sales are expected to kick off in February and run for around six weeks.
In addition, the return policy for customers who bought merchandise at one of the closing stores is as follows:
-
Merchandise bought on or after Jan. 13 can’t be returned or exchanged at a closing store.
-
Merchandise bought at Free Standing Macy’s Backstage on or after Feb. 3 can’t be returned or exchanged at a closing store.
-
Merchandise bought at Macy’s Furniture Galleries on or after Feb. 3 can be returned at the company’s website as outlined in its return policy.
According to the company’s announcement, the initial phase of their Bold New Chapter initiative, which involved enhancing the First 50 Macy’s stores, resulted in increased sales for three straight quarters and led to record levels of customer satisfaction. Looking ahead to 2025, Macy’s is set to capitalize on this positive momentum by continuing to enhance their store network and expand the improved shopping experience across more locations nationwide and online.
