A Wisconsin man who was sought in connection with the deaths of his girlfriend and two children towards the end of last year has been apprehended following a report of a suspicious person in Elroy.
Upon receiving the report, a deputy from Juneau County responded and engaged with the individual, identified as Virgil Thew by the New Lisbon Police Department.
Thew, aged 47, was being sought after an adult and two children were discovered deceased in a residence in New Lisbon on December 30, subsequent to two missing persons reports. The investigations were initiated when a minor was reported missing, and it was later established that a second minor was also unaccounted for. Later that day, the bodies of the three individuals were found at a house in New Lisbon.
The fatalities were later identified as Thew’s 33-year-old girlfriend, Elizabeth Kolba, Kolba’s 12-year-old stepdaughter, and the girl’s 13-year-old friend, WPR reported. All three were shot to death.
Thew was arrested “without incident” in Elroy, about 12 miles from New Lisbon. He faces three counts of first degree murder, according to WEAU.
