North Ridgeville school employee indicted on charges of stalking and stealing from ex-boyfriend

Hannah Freeman, 27, was indicted on several charges, including menacing by stalking, burglary, and identity fraud.

Hannah Freeman, who works for North Ridgeville City Schools, has been charged by a grand jury in Cuyahoga County for allegedly stalking and stealing from her former partner.

Court records show the 27-year-old Freeman was indicted on the below charges:

  • Menacing by stalking
  • Burglary
  • Theft/aggravated theft
  • Identity fraud
  • Theft of drugs

Freeman is scheduled to be arraigned on Dec. 13 in Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court.

CASE BACKGROUND

3News obtained a report from the Westlake Police Department that says Freeman was arrested on Nov. 7 following two recent incidents with her ex-boyfriend.

The incidents began on Nov. 6, when Westlake police say they responded to an apartment on Detroit Road for theft.

Upon arriving at the scene, the victim told police that Freeman allegedly went into his car and stole two backpacks, which included two computers and his wallet. The estimated value of the stolen items was $1,100.

In addition, the victim told police that his ex-girlfriend, identified as Freeman, would “frequent his place of work as well as his residence, causing stress and mental anguish.”

The police report says that the victim called police again on Nov. 7 to report that Freeman had followed him to his job in Westlake and was sitting inside his vehicle.

When officers arrived on the scene, they reportedly found Freeman in her vehicle. She allegedly told police the victim invited her there.

Westlake police then arrested Freeman on a charge of menacing by stalking.

Investigators say they used Flock cameras to track Freeman’s vehicle at the victim’s place of work at least 33 times on 19 different days over the past 30 days.

Freeman was placed on administrative leave after North Ridgeville school officials learned of the situation.

“This matter does not pertain directly to school activities, and as such, the district will not be issuing additional statements at this time,” said North Ridgeville City Schools in a statement on Nov. 12. “However, North Ridgeville City Schools is committed to cooperating fully with law enforcement as needed to support a thorough and fair resolution.”
