A Pennsylvania man accused of killing and dismembering his roommate last year was found dead in his jail cell before he was to stand trial.
Lehigh County officials said Joshua Moser, 34, committed suicide on Saturday, WCAU reported.
Authorities discovered the dismembered body parts of David Hittinger, aged 37, in various locations and subsequently arrested Moser in May 2024, according to a report from CrimeOnline. The remains of Hittinger were located in several places, including trash bags on a trail, a cemetery, and a quarry.
When they searched Moser’s home, where Hittinger also lived, they found blood and hair, plus evidence of efforts to conceal the blood.
Moser faced charges of murder, abuse of a corpse, and other associated offenses. He allegedly confessed to detectives that he had strangled Hittinger and struck him with a hammer before dismembering the body.
Reports indicated that Moser was found unconscious in his cell by the prison staff, who attempted life-saving procedures without success. A pre-trial hearing was set for February 5, as reported by WNEP.
