Beyoncé donates $2.5 million to Los Angeles-area wildfire relief

Beyoncé has contributed $2.5 million to a newly launched LA Fire Relief Fund created by her charitable foundation, BeyGOOD.

The news was announced through the BeyGOOD foundation Instagram account on Sunday, revealing that the fund is designated to assist families in the Altadena/Pasadena region who have lost their homes. Additionally, it aims to support churches and community centers in addressing the immediate needs of those impacted by the wildfires, as stated in the caption accompanying the post.

Established in 2013, the BeyGOOD foundation focuses on promoting economic equity by providing assistance to marginalized and under-resourced programs, aligning with its mission to create a more equitable society.

Recently, Tina Knowles, Beyoncé’s mother, shared the heartbreaking news that her beloved Malibu bungalow fell victim to the devastating fires in the Los Angeles area. In an emotional Instagram post, she expressed her deep sadness over the loss of her favorite place, her sanctuary, and sacred happy place, emphasizing the impact of the destruction. She also took a moment to acknowledge and commend the courageous men and women in the fire department who risked their lives under hazardous conditions to combat the wildfires.

The Screen Actors Guild announced over the weekend it would commit $1 million to help members affected by the fires. While a lot of attention has been paid to stars who have lost homes, numerous less-famous industry workers have also lost homes or been displaced by the fires.
