A school bus monitor, age 28, in New Jersey has been sentenced to prison for neglecting to monitor the 6-year-old girl under her supervision, resulting in the child being strangled by the safety harness of her wheelchair while en route to school.

In a Somerset County court ruling on Monday, Amanda Davila was convicted on a charge of endangering a child in the tragic death of Fajr Williams, a young girl with Emanuel syndrome, a rare chromosomal condition that left her nonverbal and reliant on a wheelchair for mobility.
