An inside look at Trump's bigger and better inauguration: From a garbage truck parade to the YMCA

President-elect Donald Trump’s second inauguration is gearing up to be an extravagant affair, with a diverse lineup of performers slated to take the stage. From rappers to billionaire tech moguls to country music stars, the event promises to be bigger and better than ever before.

The festivities will include three official balls attended by the newly sworn-in president and first lady Melania Trump. Additionally, numerous parties and events are scheduled to take place throughout the entire inauguration weekend.

One notable difference from the previous inauguration is the increased number of musical acts willing to participate in Trump’s inaugural events. Artists such as Carrie Underwood, Gavin DeGraw, Rascal Flatts, Billy Ray Cyrus, and Jason Aldean are among those set to perform, adding to the excitement of the occasion.

Even Snoop Dogg will be coming to headline the Friday night inaugural Crypto Ball.

The tech bros are also taking over town – with Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg, Jeff Bezos and TikTok CEO Shou Chew all invited to attend.

The Village People – who perform MAGA classics YMCA and Macho Man – are going to be everywhere.

Trump has the group performing at his Sunday afternoon rally at the Capital One Arena, alongside Cyrus and MAGA mainstay Kid Rock.

They’ll then head to Turning Point USA’s big bash where DailyMail.com has learned that Conor McGregor will be joining other MAGA personalities including Megyn Kelly, Tulsi Gabbard, Kash Patel, Alina Habba and Riley Gaines, among others.

The Village People will also perform at the Liberty Ball – one of the three official balls – where Aldean is expected and a ‘surprise musical guest’ is being teased.

Victor Willis is the only original member of the Village People that performs with the group. The group now consists of Willis, Javier Perez, James Kwong, Nicholas Manelic, James Lee and James J.J. Lippold.

There will be some Hollywood in Washington over inaugural weekend.

The Creative Coalition, the nonpartisan arts advocacy group that also sent representatives to both the Republican and Democratic National Conventions last year will hold a Friday night dinner that benefits military groups.

The host committee includes Wings and Madam Secretary’s Tim Daly – the president of the group – his Wings co-star Steven Weber,  as well as Breaking Bad’s Dean Norris, Only Murders In the Building’s Richard Kind, Young Sheldon’s Iain Armitage, and The Chi’s Yolonda Ross.

While the Creative Coalition is nonpartisan, it’s unclear if there will be other MAGA-aligned celebrities in the audience on Monday.

A representative for Mel Gibson told DailyMail.com that he’s not attending. He recently appreared at an event for Gen. Michael Flynn’s group at Mar-a-Lago.

A publicist for actor Dennis Quaid – who’s a Trump supporter – said ‘oh, that’s a private decision,’ when asked if Reagan star would attend inauguration.

A number of state societies and conservative groups are also hosting galas.

One of the more colorful looks to be the Legacy of Freedom Ball, which is being put on by the Black Conservative Federation, with rapper Waka Flocka Flame and former NFL player Antonio Brown expected.

Waka Flocka Flame very publicly backed Trump ahead of the November election while Brown appeared at Trump’s Latrobe, Pennsylvania rally, as the NFL player previously played for the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Waka Flocka Flame is also performing at the Power 30 Awards VIP Reception and Inauguration Party Sunday night, which is being sponsored by TikTok – as Trump considers whether to sign an executive order to overrule the forthcoming ban-or-sale law.

That event will honor up-and-coming conservative voices including ‘Libs of TikTok,’ operated by Chaya Raichik, House in Habit’s Jessica Reed Kraus, Ben Shapiro, Gaines and others.

Even progressives will have a place to drown their sorrows.

The left-leaning restaurant chain Busboys and Poets is hosting a Peace Ball at D.C.’s Arena Stage, where members of ‘The Squad,’ including Reps. Ilham Omar, Rashida Tlaib and former Rep. Cori Bush are expected to attend.

Also the writer V, formerly Eve Ensler, and Alice Walker, as well as CODEPINK’s Medea Benjamin, who was kicked out of Trump’s Defense Secretary nominee Pete Hegseth’s confirmation hearing this week, will be on hand.

President-elect Donald Trump drove a garbage truck the day after President Joe Biden appeared to call his supporters ‘garbage.’ The truck will now join the inaugural parade

And then there’s the garbage truck.

It’s a symbol of an enduring gaffe and political gift from President Joe Biden.

After comedian Tony Hinchcliffe called Puerto Rico a ‘floating island of garbage’ at Trump’s Madison Square Garden rally – prompting an outcry – Biden appeared to call all of Trump’s supporters ‘garbage.’

The White House contends that Biden only meant Hinchcliffe but the president’s comment with viral and overshadowed Democratic nominee, Vice President Kamala Harris’ closing argument speech on the Ellipse.

The next day Trump put on a orange and neon yellow vest and climbed into a garbage truck at a campaign stop in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

Now that garbage truck will be featured in Trump’s inaugural parade.

When is Trump’s 2024 inauguration date?

The 20th Amendment mandates that a new president’s term starts at 12 p.m. on January 20th the year following a presidential election.

The inauguration takes place on January 21st if the 20th falls on a Sunday.  It requires them to take the oath of office.

Beyond that, inaugural festivities are guided by tradition – with a luncheon, a parade and balls generally all part of that special day.

Is the presidential inauguration a federal holiday?

Inauguration Day is a federal holiday – but this year it lands on the same day as another federal holiday, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, the annual celebration of the civil rights icon.

Federal workers won’t get an extra day off despite it being a double holiday.

What happens the morning of inauguration?

Eight years ago when Trump was sworn-in, he and first lady Melania Trump started their day at church – at the historic yellow St. John’s Episcopal just outside the White House.

They were then greeted on the White House’s North Portico by President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama.

The Bidens plan to continue this tradition this year.

From there they headed to the U.S. Capitol ahead of the noon swearing-in.

It’s tradition for the departing president to leave a letter for the incoming president on the Resolute Desk.

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre wouldn’t reveal Wednesday if Biden planned to write one for Trump.

Despite Trump breaking tradition by being one of four presidents to skip a successor’s inauguration – the others were John Adams, John Quincy Adams and Andrew Johnson – he did leave a ‘shockingly gracious’ letter behind for the Democrat, according to Biden biographer Chris Whipple.

Four years ago the Trumps departed from the White House’s South Lawn ahead of Biden’s swearing-in ceremony and the outgoing president made remarks at Joint Base Andrews before heading to Mar-a-Lago.

Typically the former president and first lady fly off in a Marine One-type helicopter from the east side of the U.S. Capitol after the swearing-in occurs.

The Trumps plan to see the Bidens off this way this year.

Can you get tickets to Trump’s inauguration?

The Joint Congressional Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies – the bipartisan group charged with organizing the swearing-in ceremony and the inaugural luncheon – makes tickets to the inauguration available to the public.

Trump supporters must request their tickets through their member of Congress.

Already, congressional offices are predicting the demand will outstrip the supply.

How many people are expected to attend Trump’s 2025 inauguration?

Eight years ago, Trump made a big deal about his inaugural crowd size, despite it being visibly smaller than that of President Barack Obama when the Democrat was sworn-in in 2009.

Obama was the country’s first black and biracial president in history.

Trump memorably had his new press secretary, Sean Spicer, chastise the press one day after the swearing-in for pointing out Trump’s smaller crowd.

Spicer claimed ‘this was the largest audience to ever witness the inauguration – period – both in person and around the globe.’

It’s likely Trump’s crowd will be larger this year from eight years ago, simply because he’s grown his support.

This time around the Republican won the popular vote – the first GOP nominee to do so in 20 years.
